El Restaurante

Scene: A restaurant in Spain

Alex: Wow, this Spanish restaurant looks amazing!

Sam: Yeah, but how are we going to order? None of us speak Spanish.

Riley: Don't worry, I've got this! (clears throat) Hola, señor! Uno... dos... tres... burritos, por favor!

José (waiter): (chuckles) Disculpe, señorita, pero no servimos burritos aquí. Estamos en España, no en México.

Riley: (whispers to others) I don't know what he's saying.

Alex: I think we need some help.

Sam: Maybe we should have studied Spanish before coming here.

(José walks over to their table)

José: ¿Puedo tomar su orden?

Alex: (hesitantly) Uh... English?

José: (in English) Of course, my apologies. May I take your order?

Sam: Thank goodness! Can we get one minute to look at the menu?

José: Certainly. I'll be back shortly.

(The friends huddle together, looking at the menu)

Riley: Everything looks so delicious, but I can't pronounce any of these words.

Alex: Let's just point and hope for the best.

Sam: Agreed!

(José returns)

José: Have you decided?

Alex: (pointing at the menu) Can we get... this one?

José: Ah, excellent choice! That's our famous paella, a classic Spanish dish with rice, vegetables, and seafood.

Sam: Sounds perfect!

Riley: And... this one?

José: Great, that's our tortilla española, a potato and egg omelet.

Alex: Awesome, we'll take those two dishes to share, please.

José: Muy bien. I'll put in your order right away.

(José exits)

Sam: See, that wasn't so bad!

Riley: Yeah, maybe we'll learn some Spanish by the end of this trip.

Alex: Or we could just continue pointing at things deliciously.

(All laugh as the scene ends)
