Description: This project involves researching famous Spanish monuments, constructing Lego replicas, and creating a video presentation where the Lego model ‘explains’ the history and significance of the monument in both Spanish and English.
Objective: To enhance students’ understanding of Spanish culture and history through hands-on building and bilingual communication skills.
Tasks:
Choose a Spanish monument to research.
Gather information about the monument’s history, architecture, and cultural significance.
Design and build a Lego replica of the chosen monument.
Write a bilingual script for the video presentation.
Record a video of the Lego model ‘explaining’ the monument in Spanish and English.
Edit the video to include images and facts about the real monument.
Materials Needed:
Lego bricks and baseplates
Research materials (books, internet access)
Camera or smartphone for recording
Video editing software
Bilingual dictionary or translation tool
Instructions:
Select a monument from a list of famous Spanish landmarks, such as La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, or the Alhambra.
Conduct detailed research on the chosen monument.
Sketch a design of the monument and plan the Lego construction.
Assemble the Lego model, paying close attention to architectural details.
Write a script that includes interesting facts and anecdotes about the monument.
Practice the script in both languages to ensure fluency and accuracy.
Set up the recording area with good lighting and a neutral background.
Record the presentation, making sure the Lego model is clearly visible.
Edit the video to add photos of the actual monument and any other relevant visuals.
Review the video for quality and accuracy before submission.
Final Product: A creative video featuring a Lego model that educates viewers about a Spanish monument in both Spanish and English.
